Happy Birthday to me (this past Monday)!
Thank you to everyone who went out of their way to send me their well wishes!

My parents came in for the weekend to help finish my apartment and celebrate my birthdays. Needless to say, I ate A LOT.  I received my T-Shirt blankets back and they look phenomenal! I had a Vet/island one and a VT one made. While you can never have too many VT shirts, I did want to do something with all 50ish ones I had.....

The Exotic Pet Vet Blog
This past week I have been training in the exotics department. There is an incredible amount to learn with the vast variety of species we see here; I am constantly learning something new.  In more exciting news, my lab coats as well as my Virginia license came in, so I'm official!

The apartment is just about finished! I've had a handful of people asking for pictures so here they are!

Anya's One Year Adoptiversary!

My apartment is slowly coming together.  I am still waiting on my bedroom furniture (they sent the wrong color and it was missing a piece).  My replacement couch came in this week as well, since the contractors damaged the first one that they brought. However, everyone has been accommodating and willing to make me feel more comfortable.  Aside from a terrifying moment we had the other day, when the neighbor's aggressive Golden Retriever got out of the apartment and was roaming around the complex.  Not realizing there was a loose dog outside, I started to walk Anya and the dog ran towards us snapping and growling. The maintenance team of the apartment tried to approach the dog later, after I called them and informed them of the situation, and the dog was just as aggressive towards them.  Hopefully, the owner will keep a better eye on him and keep him on his leash from now on. Other than that incident, we are loving the area so far!

I started my new job this week.  I'm in the training/orientation period with a crazy schedule already. I am enjoying meeting everyone and the knowledge I've obtained already. I've been mostly training in the exotics department

Valentines day marked Anya's one year adoptiversary! I can't believe I've had her for one year!  Thank you to everyone who introduced me to her and encouraged me to make her my family member.  She's an already incredibly spoiled princess and loved to cuddle.  In fact, her aunt Julia even made her an Instagram account. Love this baby girl!

Moving Week

Short and sweet post this week because there has been so much to do!  I have officially moved to Virginia and have been the process of getting furniture, moving of all my stuff into my new place, as well as decorating.  There has just been so much to do and I have a lot of stuff! Anya is overwhelmed but loving our new place.  We were welcomed with snow on the second day we were here.....I thought I was trying to get away from the cold instead moving right into it.

Pictures to come when everything is more settled!

Starting my new job on Monday!

A Bunch Of *New*s

Trumps Wall Threatens 111 Endangered Species

This has been quite a couple of stressful weeks for me. However, everything is starting to fall into place. Thus begins a new chapter in my life and this book is getting very interesting. Keep reading.

After much debate and consideration, I have accepted a NEW position in a NEW city.  Thank you to all my friends and family for putting up with my stress-filled conversations, sleepless nights, and expressing your input in helping me deciding if this was the right move for me.  I appreciate you just listening to my thoughts and bouncing yours back on me. Because of this decision, I unfortunately will have to turn down other fantastic opportunities that I have been looking forward to. That has been a very complicated process.  However, I know this is the right career move for me and I'm eager to see what unfolds.  I will be doing small animal and exotic work, starting out in emergency medicine at Pender Veterinary Centre,

My other stressful decision was finding a NEW apartment in Fairfax, VA.  I didn't realize how picky I was until I started looking at places.  Plus, the apartments in this area are so expensive!  However, I finally found a place that I'm excited about, has most of what I have been looking for, and stayed within my budget! Anya is going to love it as well! I was able to get a free NEW TV and a free two night stay at any hotel in the US for signing this lease. The next step now is to find some NEW furniture before I move!

But wait.... there is one more fun NEW......

Stay tuned for the unpredictable NEW adventures in VA!
