Break/Let's Eat!

Notes from 1st semester (notice the coke can to give you a better idea how tall they are):

I arrived back in the States and was greeted with Showmars at the airport.  My puppy was at home ready to greet me as well!  Although, she didn't sleep with me that first night, since then she hasn't left my room.

On Sunday, I hung out with some friends and got some Extreme Pita for lunch, Corona Lights, and Mexican for dinner.  Mmmmm...
On Monday, the parents and I took a day trip to Chapel Hill to see Julia and switch cars with her.  We were also able to grab some brunch with her.  When we got home, I ran some errands, stocked up on some more food I missed and then had taco salad for dinner!  Yum!
On Tuesday, Mom and I went shopping pretty much all day and 13 shopping bags later.....
Mom made stuffed green peppers for dinner! There was more hurricane like conditions back on the island, but luckily it ended up just being rainy and windy.

Wednesday was more errands and went to visit a friend in the hospital that night.  Glad you are doing ok sweetie!  Ryan, a friend from Ross, then made one of his stops on his road trip here, so we went and grabbed some dinner and drinks.
Thursday, I was able to get brunch at my favorite brunch place.  Then Ryan and I ventured uptown and walked around so he could see the city.  We stopped for dinner at Va Piano, again another place I love.  We checked out Alive After 5 as well and had a few drinks there.  Since it was ladies night, I got a free glass of champagne!  Yum!  In true Charlotte fashion, I wore my comfortable heels uptown, but unfortunately since I have been wearing nothing but sandals, even my comfortable heels tore my feet up.  They are covered in blisters and killing me right now!  Anyone up for giving me a foot massage?  :)
Friday, Ryan continued his road trip to DC and Kellen came to visit me!  Bucca was for dinner, omg amazing!  Sarah came over as well so we were able to catch up over a bottle, or two of wine.
Saturday we had lunch with Sarah and went to see her wedding dress!  She looked amazing!  For dinner,  I got some of my mom's homemade Italian beef and dessert was apple pie and ice cream! Delicious!  The rest of the night was movie night!

Kellen left on Sunday after another brunch at my favorite place, so I vegged and watched movies the rest of the day.
I knocked out some more of my To-Do list on Monday as well as more relaxing.  Mom made Shish Kabobs that night for dinner!  My fav!
On Tuesday, I started looking looking over and outlining my books for next semester to get a head start.  Of course, I did a little bit more shopping too :)
Wednesday was full of more errands, a little bit of Christmas shopping (shhh) and an interview for the Global Entry Trusted Traveler Network.  This will hopefully save me a lot of time standing in customs at the airports! For lunch: Qdoba! For dinner: Chinese!
Thursday I nursed the burn that I got on my neck last night from curling my hair...smart.  I had dinner with friends to see them one last time before I left.

Friday was my final day in the US before I go back and I spent it relaxing outside by the pool, dinner with my parents at The Greek Isle (one last Yum!), and a movie.
Saturday was my flight back to the island....can't believe break is over already! Luckily, I just missed the Democratic National Convention which was starting later that day.
Sunday I just relaxed and got ready for the start of classes the next day!  The September Photo Challenge List is up on Facebook too!  I do plan on going the entire year, so I can cross that off my bucket list!

Review Week

Friday night was Doc Adam's surprise party and he did have an idea that something was going on.  No one can keep a secret on this island.  Saturday morning I woke up with a sore throat and runny nose, which is probably my body getting worn out.  Saturday was another video we had to watch for IVM and Amanda had a few people over for a BBQ.  Sunday was a review sessions and cracking down on studying!
On Monday, we had our Anatomy palpation quiz, micro review, and then our IVM final.  Since this is a review week, our schedule is all over the place.
The rest of the week, was just full of lots of studying and review sessions.  One of our teachers at the review sessions was talking about the test and this is his exact quote "How I choose your questions for the final: I sit on my porch with a bottle of rum, and some lime, and I piss myself laughing until I can't take it anymore...."  Look at the fun I get to look forward to....
Friday and this weekend will consist of nothing but studying for the upcoming finals!  Wish me luck on them all!

8 days!

It's Finals Time

How you know it's finals week

Last full week of classes/Tropical Storm

This past weekend, we had a few people over for dinner and the Olympic ceremony.  I cooked way too much chicken parm, pasta, and salad, so I then had lunch for the next week! The power went out late Saturday afternoon, but nothing else exciting other than studying and relaxing.

Monday, a tropical storm decides to hit us at full force and it poured on and off all day.  I ended up getting soaked at one point and luckily I had my gym clothes to change into because my jeans weighed an extra 5 pounds from all the water.  I was not about to sit in a cold classroom for another two hours with soaking, cold, jeans on.  When we got back to our apartment, the water was off as well.  So, we weren't able to take showers or do dishes either.  It was just a gross day.

Tuesday was full of flash flood warnings and basically more pouring rain.
Yes this is one of the streets.  No wonder they tell us not to park our cars here when it's raining.

Yay we actually had sun on Wednesday!  I also had my phone interview for the Bayer Student Rep, which hopefully went well.  I know there were four other people that had an interview.  We didn't have our Nutrition class today, but we did have a video for IVM that we had to watch for an hour and a half.  That night, I went out to dinner at Fisherman's Wharf and had the Mahi Mahi which was actually pretty good.
On Thursday, I ran by the store to stock up on water and canned foods just in case this storm coming stops our water.  That afternoon we had two hours of nutrition (yawn) and then I had a PAWS meeting to wrap up the semester.
Friday (today) is a surprise party at Shipwreck, but I will tell more later just in case someone reads who isn't suppose to know.  Hopefully this store will hold out for at least that, then again the weather channel is showing it might blow right by us.  Fingers crossed!  Then on Saturday I will be on campus to watch another IVM video and start studying for Vet Med Final and Anatomy quiz on Monday, as well as the rest of my finals.  16 more days!
