I've been behind on writing this week with so much going on, maybe that will be one of my resolutions. On Christmas day, Anya and I hung out watching Christmas movies and cooking my Grandma JB's pasta sauce. We then both traveled home later in the week to celebrate Christmas with my immediate family. Then the same day I got back to VA, I had a friend come into town for a quick visit. And now it's the start of the new year!
Reflecting back over the past year, I've heard a lot of complaints about how 2017 was the worst year. Just wanted to remind you, that's in all in your attitude how terrible or wonderful your year went. You don't need a new year in order to start over, although it doesn't hurt. My year was full of a new job, a new apartment, a new car, and a new location. I traveled to Iceland, Denmark, and Turks and Caicos. I learned a lot about what I want and what I don't want, made new friends, and reconnected with old. Some of the resolutions I have set for myself are to get rid of negative energy (already saged my apartment), read one book a month, learn the guitar again, visit someplace new once a month, join a meetup group/be more social, get better about actively going to church (not just watching it), and the usual of eating better and working out more. I hope you're able to leave the negative of 2017 behind and leap forward into 2018 with a new attitude and fresh new slate. Do more of what you love and what makes you happy. Here's wishing you a new year ahead!

Goodbye 2015
The clinic is very quiet this week with half of the staff and students out for the holiday, which doesn't give us much to do in radiology.
It's a new year this weekend. I can say that I am not the same person I was when this year started. This past year has been an emotional one but I am grateful for all the opportunities and lessons. Looking back, I made very close friendships, rekindled a few, as well as lost a few, fell in love with and left paradise but learned that paradise is all in your mindset, moved to Baton Rouge to start my clinical and last year of vet school, had a few externship experiences in New York and Chicago, took the NAVLE (hopefully passed it as well), traveled to a new country - Dominican Republic, and started on the job search.
This is the time when everyone starts thinking of resolutions for the new year, bad habits they want to break, new routines for better health and living. However what most don't realize is that the new year means nothing if you're still in love with your comfort zone. Stop living the same day 365 times and calling it a life. Do not be afraid of vulnerability or satisfied with simple; have a completely passionate, adventurous, weird life. The idea is to live your life in a way that makes you feel lit up, full fledged, beautiful, sparkling, alive. Find what excites and nourishes your soul, then build your world from that alone. Everything else isn't part of your revolution. I encourage you to remember what it's like to feel alive.
I have a lot of exciting things going on this new year including a zoo externship, a milestone birthday, my sister's wedding, my graduation, a big move, and a new job. I finally have accepted the frame of mind that if it doesn't nourish my soul, I'm getting rid of it, yes including people. I burned some sage and incense in order to release the negative energy and anxiety that has been surrounding me in this old year. I cannot wait to embrace all the positive energy heading my way. The best time for new beginnings is now. I don't have any resolutions other than fulfilling my 30 before 30 bucket list and the typical resolution of getting healthier. So farewell 2015, here's to 2016! This is going to be a fantastic new year!

2013 In Review
This past year has flown by so I just wanted to take a moment and reflect on what has happened to me:
January - I was very much humbled by having to repeat a class this semester
February - I started my scuba certification
March - I attended the LSU SAVMA conference.
April - Africa trip!
May - I was able to go home for my sister's graduation
June - I started my a research project on whipworms in indoor cats
July - I became one of the aviary managers
August - I was finally able to go home for break and visit with some great friends
September - I attended way too many goodbye dinners
October - This month began the craziness of nonstop exams every week this semester
November - I had the opportunity to foster some very adorable kittens and almost kept one
Decemeber - I was so excited to learn that I will be moving on to 5th semester!
I'm looking forward to the New Year with some resolutions and hopefully some smooth and less stressful upcoming semesters! Here's to one more year on the island!
